Modifications to 160,000 PPH Coal-Fired Boiler System

WestPoint Stevens

Wagram, North Carolina

August 1994

This project entailed the technical evaluation of the combustion efficiency and emissions of two existing 80,000 pph coal-fired boilers. Our recommendations resulted in the design and construction of new state-of-the-art overfire air systems for the coal-fired boilers with spreader traveling grate stokers. This modification, combined with control modifications, tuning, and the use of mechanical multicyclones, resulted in particulate and visible emissions compliance.
