Rabun Gap, Georgia

December 1986

ESI was the EPC Contractor for a new 4.1 MW steam turbine installation that was retrofitted on Burlington Industries’ existing wood-fired boiler. The complete installation consisted of a new superheater which raised the steam temperature from saturation temperature to 750°F, a new 4.1 MW back pressure turbine-generator with lube oil system, turbine controls, medium-voltage interconnecting electrical gear, new turbine building, high-pressure feedwater pumps, new demineralized water treatment system, and all interconnecting piping. The facility utilizes the power generated for part of its power supply as well as peak shaving.
