Operator Training
Frito-Lay Steam Facilities
Evaluation of Operating Personnel
Owner: Frito-Lay
Project Location: Plano, Texas
Project Completion: January 1994
Project Description:
ESI was commissioned by Frito-Lay Corporate Engineering to perform a life extension analysis for two Frito-Lay facilities (one in Casa Grande, AZ and one in Medesto, CA). As part of that analysis, ESI was asked to evaluate the operations staff for the purpose of understanding their strengths and weaknesses in both comprehension of the basic theories necessary for safe powerhouse operations and their aptitude regarding their specific job functions. ESI conducted extensive interviews of all operations staff and developed a detailed and comprehensive operator testing program to gain an understanding of the staff’s knowledge. The results of this testing were utilized to develop a specific operator training system to bolster the operator’s skill level and improve site safety and enhance efficiency.
