Dynegy Danskammer Generating Station
Coal Handling System
Owner: Dynegy Northeast Generation, Inc.
Project Location: Newburgh, New York
Project Completion: Estimated November 2004
Project Description:
ESI is the EPC Contractor for the installation of new coal conveyors to the existing ship unloading system at Dynegy’s Danskammer Generating Station. The station currently receives 100% of their coal via ship on the Hudson River. Unloaded coal is conveyed to the main coal pile. The plant also maintains a reserve pile to handle fluctuations in coal shipments and provide capacity to meet summer demand. Currently, coal is transferred between the two piles, separated by 800 feet, manually by front-end loader and dump trucks. ESI is performing the engineering and installation of two new conveyors that will allow incoming coal shipments to be diverted to the reserve pile and then reclaimed to the existing system for normal main pile allocation with minimal manpower involvement. The new conveyors are being integrated in the existing coal conveyor PLC system.
