Engineering Study & Feasibility Analysis
Ispat Inland Steam Facility
Evaluation of Waste Heat Recovery Heat Exchangers
Owner: Ispat Inland, Inc.
Project Location: East Chicago, Indiana
Project Completion: June 2001
Project Description:
ESI performed an engineering study and economic feasibility analysis for Ispat Inland’s #7 blast furnace heat recovery project. The purpose of this study was to decrease the use of natural gas in the #7 blast furnace stove burners by increasing the use of blast furnace gas that is currently being flared to atmosphere. The proposed system consists of both thermal oil and waste heat recovery heat exchangers to maximize the efficiency and use of blast furnace gas. The study provided preliminary design of the system, budgetary pricing for the EPC project, project schedule, process and instrumentation drawings, general arrangement drawings, and a detailed engineering-only estimate for the completion of the project.
