Engineering Study & Feasibility Analysis
Finch, Pruyn & Company Steam Facility
Evaluation of Future Power Generation
Owner: Finch, Pruyn & Company, Inc.
Project Location: Glens Falls, New York
Project Completion: October 2000
Project Description:
ESI performed a study to evaluate the financial feasibility of the Glens Falls facility generating a large portion of its electrical power needs. The goal of the facility was to have enough generation capacity to allow it to disconnect from the local utility grid during the summer storm season due to the fact they had suffered numerous forced outages because of external problems. Options considered included both combustion turbine-generators with heat recovery equipment and steam turbine-generators. The study included: technical descriptions, budgetary estimates and economic analyses for each option considered, along with discussions of operational advantages and disadvantages for each option.
