Engineering Study & Feasibility Analysis

Appleton Papers Steam Facility

Relocation of Bubbling Fluidized Bed Boiler System

Appleton Papers, Inc.

West Carrollton, Ohio

June 2001

ESI performed a preliminary engineering study and economic feasibility analysis for Appleton Papers to purchase, relocate, and integrate into their utility infrastructure an existing decommissioned bubbling bed boiler system. This study included a budgetary cost estimate to dismantle, relocate, and reassemble the existing BFB system along with the design, procurement, and construction of the additional equipment required to process and combust paper mill sludge with coal at the Appleton facility. ESI also assisted in identifying environmental permitting issues and provided a financial pro forma analysis that considered capital investment, operating costs, and maintenance costs to yield a net present value of the investment.
